LioTravertine and wood reading wall light, adjustable head

Wall light made up of a wooden backplate 5 cm wide and 17 cm high, on which a cylindrical travertine spotlight 4 cm in diameter and 12 cm long is mounted. The spotlight pivots on a ball joint, so the beam can be directed downwards, towards the wall or towards the ceiling. A brass push button built into the body switches the light on directly at the wall light.

Travertine is a sedimentary limestone rock whose formation through deposits leaves visible cavities and veins. As each cylinder is cut from a separate block, the pattern of the pores and the shade vary from one piece to another.

Choice of two backplate finishes. Dark walnut heightens the contrast with the pale stone and anchors the wall light on a white wall; light wood stays within a range of similar tones and makes the whole piece read as a single material. The travertine spotlight, ball joint and push button are identical in both cases.

Above a bedside table, the built-in switch saves you getting up to turn the light off and the ball joint lets you angle the beam onto the pages of a book. In a hallway, the spotlight aimed at the wall creates a grazing patch of light rather than general lighting. Above a shelf or a worktop, it lights a precise area without spilling over into the rest of the room.
